"You Raise Me Up"

After Bailee's 1st Grade Awards Program all the kids stood up and sang "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban. It was the cutest thing ever...absolutely priceless!

Be sure to pause the playlist at the very bottom and turn your volume up so you can hear the kiddos!

The seeds that the kids planted over spring break are growing beautifully! All 3 plants are doing very well. Brikelle's was the first one to start growing and Braden's wasn't far behind. Bailee's took quite awhile to start growing and I was a little concerned about it. But then one day we saw a little green leaf and now Bailee's is the first one to have a flower bloom! The kids love their plants and have been so excited watching them grow. Maybe by the time Daddy gets home the plants will be full of flowers!

Reading Awards Program

Today was the Reading Awards Program at Bailee's school. Her school does a home/school reading program and the goal is to have each student in the school read at least 100 books by the end of the year. Bailee's class had the highest amount of books read out of all the 1st grade! After they go through each class they announce the top students for each grade and the top student for the school. Bailee, her teacher and myself were very pleasantly surprised (or ecstatic!) when they announced Bailee's name as the top student for the 1st grade! She read a total of 846 books this year! (that includes chapter books...each chapter counts as a book) I am so proud of her and her accomplishment. Bailee works very hard in school and does very well. She loves books and loves to read. She has had an awesome 1st grade year and once again we have absolutely loved her teachers. We have been so blessed to be a part of the ACPS family and look forward to having two kids there next year! Although Bailee still has a week and a half to go before school is out, the end of 1st grade is going to be bitter-sweet...goodbyes are never fun! We LOVE you little Miss B and we LOVE ACPS!!!

Monday Makings

Okay, so we didn't actually make a craft this week. Since it was a holiday and Bailee was out of school, the kids opted to play in the sprinkler instead. So I took pictures of them having some fun! So while I was getting the sprinkler ready and putting sunscreen on the kids Braden says "Look at that animal in our yard Mom". I look up and see a frog hopping across the grass. We have lots of frogs around here so it wasn't that big of a deal until I saw what was chasing the frog and that's the "animal" Braden was talking about. A big, fat, black snake was slithering across the grass trying to get the frog. Umm...Eww! So in my head I'm freaking out but I remained calm as not to freak my children out. I told Braden to stay away but keep watching it while I went next door to get our wonderful neighbor! He grabbed his shovel and the kids and I lived happily ever after, the snake...not so much! So that was our excitement of the day. My neighbor couldn't find the snake at first so he asked me if it was big. Hello, I'm a girl and we're talking about a snake in my yard, YES it's ginormous as far as I'm concerned!!! Sorry I don't have a picture to share with you all...that was the last thing on my mind at the time!

P.S. In case any of you are wondering or worried, yes, the frog got away and made it to safety. Hopefully he isn't the same frog that is on the street squished and dried up!

Memorial Day

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day. THANK YOU to those I know and those I don't know who have served our country, and a huge THANK YOU to those who are currently serving our country. We pray for our military and their families everyday. Daddy, we love you so much and are so proud of you for your service. We miss you lots and can't wait to see you!!!

Monday Makings

This week we made bumblebees! We took two days to make this craft because the yellow finger paint had to dry overnight. The kids love to use the finger paints...it's one time they can actually be messy!

Silly kids showing me their yellow hands after paitning!

The next day we added the black stripes
Once the stripes dried we were able to glue on the eyes and stinger and tape on the wings
And here are the buzzing bees!
